WELCOME TO ONE OF WORKING PLAYGROUND'S NETWORK ARTSPACE BLOGS!
This blog is part of an afterschool digital photography My World model program at M.S. 2 in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How can I educate and inspire my community? How can my community educate and inspire me?
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: Photography has often been used as means to document and express the ideas and dreams of a community. In this course, students will begin with the self as a concept to explore photography, later branching out into the community. The project will investigate the choices we make as individuals (Am I what I choose? What makes up who I am?) and how those choices connect or disconnect us from our community. Students will learn the basics of photography like: composition, tone, focal points, and lighting, among others. Students will research themselves as a subject and member of their community. The final show will be a slideshow presentation for the school, parents and community members.
The class will take place at M.S. 2 in Flatbush, Brooklyn on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
